Database analysis (PT4/HM), leak detection:

the first lesson usually starts with database analysis, which is one of the most productive coaching techniques. It provides an easy way to look into a player’s most important stat columns and fix critical errors that prevent a player from achieving valuable results. It is the most advanced study method, after which one of the most important indicators in tournament poker – bb/100 – improves dramatically. After a proper analysis of the database, it is easy to draw up a further training plan.

Choosing games and focusing in the right direction:

tournament poker is not only about correct decisions at the table, a large number of wrong decisions are made before pressing the registration button. My training offers correct goal setting, correct game selection to the analysis of small details for each player individually. It is necessary to understand where the money comes from and where it is lost.

I've had around 8 sessions with Matiss so far. Really great value especially when buying coaching sessions in bulk. He's been super helpful in helping to identify leaks via database analysis and in pushing me to adjust my strategy in a wide range of spots to increase win rate and profit. Highly recommend for low/midstakes MTT players. I just finished my first 10 hour block of lessons with Matiss. Before I started my lessons, I was decently profitable at MTT from both a ROI and chip EV perspective. I haven't ever really studied or taken lessons (unless you count watching youtube videos of ppl's sessions and whatnot), so I was getting by mostly on my personal ability to process this very indirect information. I had a sense that I was making mistakes, and that some of the players around me were playing at a higher level, but I had no idea how to achieve that level on my own. I sent my hand history, and we immediately went over some very simple spots where I was not playing correctly preflop. Since then, I have seen an increase in my overall chip EV, and specifically, massive increases in the spots we discussed. I am making deep runs more frequently, and I play with more confidence in these spots having been shown in plain numbers why specific actions are good or bad. There's always more to learn, and we are getting more in-depth as we go, but I got immediate and tangible value from our lessons so far, and I have signed up to continue my lessons with Matiss going forward. Highly recommend to anyone wants to improve, but needs someone with more knowledge and experience to show them the way.
